Raghav’s wife Parineeti also praised him for speaking on the issue against piracy. Parineeti shared a video of Raghav’s speech in Rajya Sabha and wrote, ‘What should I say about that? You are a star for raising this important issue in Parliament. My love’.

Raghav himself has shared the video of his speech given in Rajya Sabha on X. In this, he is addressing the Parliament speaking against piracy. Sharing his video, the AAP MP has written that, ‘Piracy is an important plague that is spreading in the film industry and now in the OTT world as well’.
Film industry is losing Rs 20,000 crore annually
Raghav said that due to piracy the film industry is suffering a loss of Rs 20 thousand crores every year. He wrote, ‘Due to piracy the film industry is suffering a loss of Rs 20,000 crores annually. Online piracy saw a 62% increase during the pandemic’.
Raghav further wrote, ‘We passed the Cinematographic (Amendment) Bill a year ago, but it lacks a concrete mechanism against online piracy and focuses mainly on anti-cam recording in multiplexes. As we are going digital with more films being released on platforms, I ask the government what is being done to curb the issue of digital piracy on OTT and does the government have any plans to bring a dedicated law for this?’
